Hi! My name is Sabine.

I am a mechanical engineering student at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. But, New England hasn’t always been my home.

Originally from Montreal, Quebec, I grew up in a vibrant city surrounded by languages, cultures, and ideas different from my own. This upbringing sparked my curiosity about the world: if my bubble was already so exciting, what else could be out there?

At 17, I packed my bags and moved to Wales to attend United World College of the Atlantic, a peace-driven, sustainability-focused international school bringing together students from more than 100 countries and a wide range of economic backgrounds. Living and learning in such a diverse community gave me a broader perspective on the challenges facing our world, but it also showed me what is possible when people approach those challenges with dialogue, creativity, and teamwork.

That experience shaped my decision to pursue engineering. I wanted to develop the technical skills to move beyond discussing problems and begin designing practical solutions to them. Whether through sustainable energy, biotechnology, architecture, or environmentally conscious social enterprises, I have started exploring the many ways that engineering and design can create meaningful impact.

Now, as a student at Brown University, my experience spans design, technology, and finance. My academic work has trained me to approach complex problems through analytical thinking, computational modeling, and creative iteration, while my risk internship at the National Bank of Canada has allowed me to use technology to redesign workflows and improve how teams function. I am especially drawn to opportunities where engineering, innovation, and human-centered problem-solving come together to create smarter, more sustainable, and more effective solutions.
